Grammy-winning producer, arranger, composer and musician Shaun Martin was only 45 years old. A tribute to his life and work is scheduled for mid-September.

Born and raised in Oak Cliff, Martin began playing music at age 4. He ultimately became proficient in multiple instruments, playing the piano, drums, keyboard, clarinet and Minimoog. You can get a sense of his versatility and ferocious musical ability in the below 31-minute clip Martin recorded for Korg’s Solo Sessions at an Arlington studio. See the video below:, in 2020. Averaging over 130,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, his biggest singles were “The Yellow Jacket,” “Soundcheck and Whatnots” and “Madiba.” The albums reflected his deeply rooted journey through gospel music and exploration of faith.just days before Martin’s death.
