: The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar after the greenback had eased amidst growing concerns about the United States Federal Reserve’s direction and China’s economy, said analysts.

At 9 am, the local note rose to 4.6355/6400 against the US dollar from 4.6535/6550 at Thursday’s close. He added that the USD/MYR is reaching an oversold position based on technical indicators such as the Relative Strength Index.Meanwhile, Malaysia’s GDP for the second quarter of 2023 is expected to grow at a slower pace at 3.3 per cent from 5.6 per cent in 1Q 2023.

“If that is the case, this would mark the fifth consecutive month of decline in exports and imports, signalling that the external is likely to weigh on the overall economic performance for 2023,” said Mohd Afzanizam.
