The Cleveland Browns have released kicker Riley Patterson after just two games with the team. Patterson took over kicking duties last week against the Kansas City Chiefs after a battle with Dustin Hopkins . Despite making his one extra point attempt last week, Patterson has been let go by the Browns. He played in two games this season for Cleveland, making one field goal and connecting on six of seven extra points.
The 25-year-old Patterson may continue to improve and seek a more consistent opportunity. Meanwhile, Hopkins has struggled this season, making only 16 of 25 field goal attempts and missing two extra points in 18 tries. The Browns signed Patterson to replace Younghoe Koo, who suffered an injury during the Atlanta Falcons' Monday Night Football game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Koo's potential absence for Week 16 prompted the Falcons to sign Patterson. The Browns may consider re-signing Patterson in the future if they believe he can be their long-term kicker
