Riley Keough shares her guide to glowing skin and no-makeup makeup on the next installment of VogueMagazine's BeautySecrets series
“I like to do scrubs on dry skin, which is a little weird, but I feel like it scrubs me harder,” she explains, noting that the body makeup she’s been wearing on set has been causing textural changes to her skin.
. “But this makes my skin feel so soft.” After performing a quick microcurrent massage with her NuFace device, she applies Mara Universal Face Oil and gently rubs a Gua Sha tool across her skin to stimulate circulation and sculpt her features. “It makes my face more awake, and at work I can see a difference,” she says before patting Kate Somerville“really lightly” under her eyes. “Eye cream is very important to me when I’m working because I don’t sleep a lot and it really shows on camera,” Keough explains. “I already have a tendency to have dark circles under my eyes—which I kind of like sometimes—but they can get really intense.” Keeping her skin camera-ready means hydration is also extremely important: “I’m obsessed with moisturizing.” To achieve smoothness and keep her skin super soft, she uses Kate Somerville, saying that she finds the peptide-rich formula “to be really moisturizing; you can see immediately that it really improves your skin texture.” Next, it’s all about creating what Keough says is a fairly minimal makeup look—what she might wear if she had “a meeting or somewhere important to go.” Before using a beauty blender to dab on sheer foundation, she preps her skin with SuperGoop’s Unseen Sunscreen; she likes it for its primer-like finish. Then, she uses a flat brush to swipe cream bronzer by Sol under her cheekbones and across the bridge of her nose before dabbing Ilia’s Multi-Stick in All of Me directly from the tube onto her cheeks. To highlight her dewy glow, she finishes with a dose of Evan Healy Glow Bomb on her cheekbones and eyelids before curling her lashes and sweeping on a clean mascara. To finish, she adds a touch of concealer “just where needed” and adds tinted lip balm by Rel before swiping on Coola’s LipLux Organic Lip Oil with SPF 30 for extra protection and “gloss.” “In all the films I’ve done, I’ve gotten to experience all kinds of looks—you learn a lot on set,” Keough muses, noting that the maximalist beauty looks in the filmwere probably the most fun. “We got to go really crazy; there was nothing that was too much.” And while she won’t say no to heavier makeup on the red carpet, in her day-to-day life Keough is adamant about staying true to her fresh-faced tendencies. “You know, I always like looking as natural as I possibly can; I don’t like looking like I have a lot of makeup on. I don’t like when you can see it.”
