Under The Bridge, starring Riley Keough and Lily Gladstone, premieres April 17 on Hulu
Lily Gladstone’s follow-up to her Oscar-nominated performance in the haunting tale of a real-life murder is, as it happens, another haunting tale of real-life murder. Under The Bridge, in which she stars opposite Riley Keough, is based on Rebecca Godfrey’s book of the same name which explores the murder of a young girl in Godfrey’s childhood home of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
” Not unlike the Amy Adams-starring Sharp Objects, Keough’s Godfrey is presented as something of a prodigal daughter returning to her hometown to capitalize on their tragedy. But the writer can get closer to the young “Bic girls”—a term that local police have given to the youths “because we’re disposable,” one of them tells Godfrey—than a cop can. “This is a tale of horror and wonder, of innocence and beauty, violence and sin,” Keough narrates over the trailer.
