Riftbound is coming up on its six-month anniversary pretty soon, and it's already been through two sets. It's poised to make an even bigger splash later this year, as three more sets will be released by this October.
That includes the Unleashed set, which hosts several memorable Champions, including Vi, who was featured heavily in the Arcane TV show. Our Exclusive New Unleashed Card For Riftbound Our exclusive card is actually a Legend this time, which is essentially a Commander-like entity in Riftbound. Choosing a Legend will dictate what aspects you can choose to deck build with, and it remains in a special zone, where it can be used roughly once per turn. Our Legend is Pyke, The Bloodharbor Ripper, who was added to League of Legends seven years ago. As a harpooner from Bilgewater, Pyke escaped the stomach of a giant jaull-fish, Boba Fett style, and now hunts people who"exploit others." In Riftbound, Pyke's strategy is all about bouncing. If you exhaust him and pay the cost of one, you can return a friendly unit from a battlefield to its owner's hand, then play a gold gear token exhausted. Like Magic: The Gathering, gold is a token that lets you exhaust, sacrifice it, and add a resource. You can exploit this combo by popping friendly units that have effects that trigger when played from your hand; then playing them again, while getting richer with treasure to use on a later turn. With the Fury and Chaos domain pie, Pyke is ready to come out of the gate swinging with two very thematic color choices. You can take a look at Pyke and his alternate art in the gallery above. Pyke joins Jhin, Rengar, Vi, Lillia, Vex, Ivern, Diana, Leblanc, Kha'Zix, Poppy, and Master Yi as part of the Unleashed Legend crew. Riftbound Unleashed Launches On May 8 Worldwide It's Coming Up When Unleashed hits, there will be a new product line for Riftbound: The Vault. Housed within a reusable storage box, The Vault contains six booster packs for the current set, 36 basic runes , three double-sided full art tokens, and two dividers. Riot says this isn't exclusive to Unleashed, and will be released for future sets going forward. It'll also introduce an"Ultimate Rarity," which should be a pretty hot topic going forward. Riftbound seems to be catching on in many areas, as more local stores in my area have been carrying cards over time. Ideally, the team can continue patching over some lingering issues from the first set and forge ahead for the rest of the year. So far, it's looking pretty good for the game.
