The host of 'The Rickey Smiley Morning Show' lost his son in January.
Smiley did say that he isn’t certain that substance abuse killed his son. He simply believes that was the cause.
“We haven’t got a toxicology report yet,” he said. “But this is just what we are speculating, according to his girlfriend who found him unresponsive.” Smiley said he and his wife often had conversations with their son about his substance issues, but that it is tough “getting the kids to listen to these conversations.”
“I’m doing good,” Smiley said when asked how he was holding up after the devastating loss. “I still have to do my morning show. I still have to press my way through, pray my way through.
