Rick Pitino says he's not Deion Sanders because their approaches were different

But Pitino, 71, says his approach to roster management hasn’t been the same as that of the 56-year-old Sanders.
“I had really good players at St. John’s. Mike Anderson did a tremendous job recruiting, I just wanted a whole different culture. But the guys that were here, they could play.”since last August. Coach Prime famously said when he took the job, “I‘m bringing my own luggage with me.” The Red Storm were picked fifth in the Big East preseason poll but Pitino has earned praise from his rival coaches, including UConn coach and former Seton Hall guard Dan Hurley and Georgetown’s Ed Cooley.Pitino, one of two coaches to lead three programs to the Final Four, says his first season in Queens will be judged by one thing.Pitino then added his spiel about how he felt more pressure at Iona than any of his other coaching stops -- Kentucky, Louisville, Providence, etc.
