by pretending to be a four-star U.S. Army general on Facebook and soliciting vast amounts of money from senior women.
To persuade the women to send money, the 52-year-old befriended the seniors online and lied about why he needed the funds, U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Cunha said in a news release Monday. A 70-year-old widow from Prescott Valley, Arizona, told police in April 2022 that she lost over $925,000 and sold her home, RV and jewelry to support Alabi's scam, according to court documents. She admitted to feeling"shame, embarrassment and guilt" over being scammed. Due to her finances being in shambles, she didn't have food to eat for weeks and couldn't pay her bills, the woman told officers.
The senior women were instructed to send bank checks and cash to addresses and companies in Texas. One of the companies was Full Circle Import Exports, a company Alabi created that had the same address as his home in Richmond, according to court documents.Ex-NCIS agent Leatrice De Bruhl-Daniels sentenced to nine years for aiding a Syrian businessman.
