The seventh annual event on Nov. 20 drew nearly 5,000 people to historic downtown Richmond, where numerous stalls offered everything from pecans to patchwork quilts.
“Bagley Pecans of Richmond is always a large supporter, donating funds, manpower and gift certificates to this festival each year,” said Richmond Mayor Becky Haas, who was busy at the festival supervising the bake-off insider the Morton Masonic Lodge No. 72. “I am thankful to the Rotary Club of Richmond for stepping up to manage the Pecan Harvest Festival this year.”
The festival is valued by businesses because of the increased foot traffic it brings, said Elaine Mata, whose family owns Post Office Boutiques at 310 Morton St. The Matas’ business is another vestige of Richmond’s history, still retaining wooden teller windows and slots from the 1940s.
