Chavez has more than 32 years of progressively responsible experience in the public planning sector, according to an announcement by the city. Chavez holds a master of public administration degree from the University of North Texas, with a bachelor of landscape architecture degree from Texas Tech University.He began his career as a planner for Palm Beach County, Fla,, from 1987-89; and has served with the city of Richardson for more than 12 years..
