He founded his own practice in 2012 after years of serving as a senior partner at the prestigious Beverly Hills firm Weissmann Wolff Bergman Coleman Grodin.
This move followed the merger of Weissmann Wolff with Sacramento-based Weintraub Genshlea Chediak Tobin & Tobin, marking the end of an era for the entertainment law firm that had been a significant force in Hollywood since the early 1980s.Weissmann's journey began in Zurich in 1930, where he was born. He and his family sought refuge in Mexico City in 1940 before ultimately settling in Los Angeles. His legal expertise led him to hold prominent positions at Warner Bros., where he served as head of worldwide business affairs, and at Kaplan Livingston Goodwin Berkowitz & Selvin, where he was a partner. Before venturing out on his own, Weissmann's reputation as a legal luminary was cemented by his selection as Entertainment Lawyer of the Year by the Beverly Hills Bar Association in 2010 and the Distinguished Entertainment Leadership Award from the Anti-Defamation League, among many other accolades. Weissmann's influence extended beyond the courtroom. He was a passionate educator, lecturing at prestigious institutions like Harvard, Yale, and the AFI. He also taught at USC and Sherwood Oaks Experimental College, sharing his knowledge and experience with aspiring legal minds.
