Richard Restak, MD, is Clinical Professor of Neurology at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the author of The 21st Century Brain.

, is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine. Post-graduate training included a rotating internship at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York, psychiatric residencies at Mount Sinai Hospital and Georgetown University Hospital, and a residency in neurology at George Washington Hospital in Washington, DC.

Concurrently, he is Clinical Professor of Neurology at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He is also a member of the clinical faculty at St Elizabeth's Hospital, Overholser Division of Training, Department of Psychiatry, Washington, DC, and maintains a private practice in neurology and neuropsychiatry in Washington, DC. He holds membership in several professional societies and serves on numerous committees. Restak was elected to Fellowship in the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Neurology, and the American Neuropsychiatric Association. He was president of the American Neuropsychiatric Association . He was the recipient of the Linacre Medal for Humanity and Medicine conferred by Georgetown University Medical School in 1995. In 1992, he was the recipient of The Chicago Neurosurgical Center's"Decade of the Brain Award." He is the author of 25 books on the brain, including three New York Times bestsellers.
