Quinn tells British Vogue how he is mentoring the students who operate out of his Peckham studio during the coronavirus pandemic, and what Covid-19 means for the future of his business

– complete with bubblegum-pink carpets, chandeliers and a grand piano – was all borrowed or recycled with the help of set designer Derek Hardie-Martin. “Big shows aren’t necessarily bad,” he opines. “This period of reflection doesn’t mean we have to strip everything back.” While Quinn’s biannual collection schedule is unlikely to change after the pandemic subsides, he defends the extended calendar of resort and pre-fall collections. “Shows create jobs,” he explains.

Since shuttering it due to the outbreak of Covid-19, Quinn has been in constant communication with them via WhatsApp. “My advice is always to just get on with it,” he says. “The world already runs on digital platforms. It’s not the ’80s, where the original photo of a show look goes into a magazine.” He’s trying to lead by example, creating fresh ideas and pausing to think of new ways to operate going forward.
