Richard Madeley issues grovelling apology to Sam Smith after calling musician 'he' on GMB
Richard Madeley has issued a grovelling apology to musician Sam Smith on Good Morning Britain. The ITV presenter, appearing alongside co-host Susanna Reid, was leading a discussion on Sam Smith’s latest music video for I'm Not Here to Make Friends.
After being cut off by Susanna, Richard apologised for the mistake, before a similar mishap happened later in the segment, when he did the same to a guest. Richard said: "I am so sorry. I will learn to do that." Sam Smith revealed they were non-binary in 2019, asking people to use they/them pronouns when referring to them. Gloria, the artist's fourth album, was released this month and features collaborations with Kim Petras, Koffee, Jessie Reyez and Ed Sheeran.
