Russell Brand reveals he's been baptised in the Thames as he turns to Christianity and claims he feels 'nourished' by the baptism.
He survived a back-breaking parachute accident and reached the summit of Mount Everest 18 months later at the age of 23, but now Bear Grylls has taken on perhaps his most daunting challenge – converting lewd comic Russell Brand to Christianity.
The comedian ventured across the Hebrides with Grylls in the former SAS trooper's Apple TV+ show, Running Wild with Bear Grylls before the adventurer helped the comic with his conversion It was created by the Anglican priest Nicky Gumbel, of Holy Trinity Brompton, just across the road from Harrods in London's Knightsbridge.
During Brand's appearance on Grylls' show, the pair discussed his failed marriage to American pop superstar Katy Perry. He described the marriage as 'chaotic' but described Perry as 'an amazing person' On BBC Radio 2 in 2008, he and presenter Jonathan Ross called the late Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs, leaving three messages on the answerphone, making repeated lewd and graphic claims about his granddaughter, Georgina Baillie.Grylls has spoken about the difference between faith and religion, as he sees it. 'I meet so many people who don't want 'religion' as such,' he said.
