Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena says having the Brazilians’ former star midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi in their team helped TS Galaxy beat them at home on Wednesday. SLSiya

Sundowns suffered a shock defeat at the hands of the Rockets in just their second game of the season, going down 1-0 at Loftus Versveld.

The defeat came as a rude awakening for the Chloorkop-based outfit who suffered just one league defeat last season. When quizzed about reasons behind their defeat, Mokwena pointed to Vilakazi, the man who spent six years with Sundowns, saying that his intel on his former employers proved to be advantageous to his current bosses.

“It’s one of those, one of 30 [games]. Not an easy one against a very well-coached side and you can see that having Vila train with us – very smart, intelligent person the, the entire pre-season – played into their advantage a little bit. He has too much intel and they knew 150% the weaknesses of our team,” he told journalists after the loss.“But, be that as it may, we could have played better, we know that we can play better.

Mokwena, along with Manqoba Mngqithi and Steven Komphela would have to adequately prepare their team for the next match which comes in the form of Kaizer Chiefs, who they host in a highly-anticipated match on Saturday.
