Friday, announcing he “won’t take sides” on the conspiracies surrounding the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks if he got into the Oval Office, and instead would push for “transparency” surrounding that horrible day.
“As President I won’t take sides on 9/11 or any of the other debates. But I can promise is that I will open the files and usher in a new era of transparency,” the third-party candidate added.Kennedy, 70, said his post was made in reference to renewed discussion about the deadly attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon after CBS News’ “60 Minutes” aired a video last month suggesting the government of Saudi Arabia knew about or was complicit in the assault that killed nearly 3,000 people.
“It’s 23 years later, and our government has failed to bring us accountability, closure and justice. Our government fails to talk tough on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” said Brett Eagleson, president of 9/11 Justice, at a press conference in Lower Manhattan.Kennedy said Friday that his transparency push will also expand to other things the “government may be covering up.”
