RFK Jr. has the signatures to qualify for Pa. ballot, but he’s not yet on it
Election-2024

The independent presidential candidate is sinking at the polls but continues to grow the number of states where he has access to the ballot.

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. speaks to supporters during a campaign stop, Monday, May 13, 2024, in Austin, Texas. Even as his campaign shows signs of sputtering, independent presidential candidate Robert F.

Kennedy Jr. is continuing to collect signatures to secure a place on a growing number of state ballots. The Kennedy campaign said the former Democrat has added his name to three state ballots and has submitted signatures to gain ballot access in nine more states, including Pennsylvania. “Today signifies a giant leap and monumental achievement in the campaign’s ballot access operation with enough signatures collected in 34 states,” the campaign said in a press release. The campaign said all signatures have been validated, confirming that Kennedy has more than enough signatures to achieve ballot access in each state. In Pennsylvania, the Kennedy campaign said the total number of signatures exceeds 15,000, more than triple the 5,000 required. “Pennsylvanians have spoken,” said Bill Cox, director of Kennedy’s campaign in Pennsylvania. “They want Kennedy on the ballot — the leader who cares about them, their families, their food, their health, and their ability to live a quality life.” Kennedy’s campaign has been eclipsed in recent weeks by the stunning turn of events in the election cycle, notably the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, President Biden’s exit from the race and the entry into the race of the presumptive nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris. Political pundits largely agree that the historic events that have reframed the election cycle have diminished Kennedy’s relevancy, as reported bythe Kennedy campaign has raised $52 million. Records show that American Values 2024, the super PAC backing Kennedy, raised just $228,000 in June. Kennedy raised $5.4 million, while his running mate Nicole Shanahan donated $2.5 million. The campaign has spent more than $6.2 million. Kennedy’s poll numbers continue to slide, but his supporters could still be the difference in a Harris-Trump match up, where polls are reflecting razor thin margins. A New York Times/Siena poll from last week shows Kennedy at 5%, down from 8%. A Wall Street Journal poll has him at 4%, down from 7% previously. “RFK could be a very impactful part of the race here” given the margins, said Chris Borick, director of the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion. “But it’s really hard to discern.” “There’s a modest trend that it hurts Trump more than Harris but not overwhelmingly,” he said. “It could vary state to state.Cyber outage causes disruptions for UPMC, WellSpan; patient care, appointments not impacted If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.and agree that your clicks, interactions, and personal information may be collected, recorded, and/or stored by us and social media and other third-party partners in accordance with our
