Reward offered for tips leading to an arrest in the murder of Cleveland man honored for mentoring youthCLEVELAND, Ohio - A $5,000 reward is being offered by Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County, Inc. for information or tips that lead to an arrest in the murder of 20-year-old Kyle Jackson.
His mother Kendra Holloway put out a plea for justice for her son, ”I urge whoever did it to please come forward. Do what you would want somebody to do if this was your loved one.” Jackson who was on the dean’s list, never in trouble with the law and even honored by the City of Cleveland and the Cavaliers for his work with area youth, was murdered on August 6. The 16-year-old suspect originally arrested and accused of shooting and killing Jackson is no longer charged with the crime, “There was an arrest but there was not enough evidence so that didn’t pan out. They’re still investigating and I am in contact with the detectives.” Jackson was out that night to attend a gathering with friends on Knowles and Euclid in East Cleveland just two minutes from his home. But as he walked to his car to head home, he was hit twice in the back by stray bullets. Holloway returned to the spot where her son lost his life, hoping someone there that night will come forward, “This is the area. I was told there was an altercation that happened between girls and there was like some random shooting and everyone was trying to get away. He was walking to his car.” Holloway is a mother and school principal suffering the type of pain and heartache that will never go away. So she’s begging young people to stop the senseless violence, because she says she doesn’t want another mother to experience the heartbreak she now lives with every day, “I want kids and people to just put the guns down, to just stop.” Jackson, just 20 years old owned a sneaker business according to his mother, he was the Dean’s List and hired as a student assistant to CSU’s boys basketball team. He was even honored for his work as a mentor to area youth. Now his mother wants the person responsible for taking his life to do the right thing and turn yourself in, “I miss my son, I can’t even put it into words. I do want whoever did this to come forward I do. So they can have peace.”If you have information that could lead to an arrest in the case contact Crime Stoppers at: 25-CRIME or call East Cleveland Police. You can remain anonymous.
