On Thursday, state Rep. Reed Ingram, R-Dist. 75, stepped forward to add another $5,000 to the reward total. The money is coming out of Ingram’s own pocket. The money is being offered to help spur tips that can solve the shooting investigation of Amy Dicks. She was sitting in her vehicle around 1 p.m. that Friday when shots rang out in the 5500 block of busy Atlanta Highway.Ingram’s increase follows an announcement Wednesday by Central Alabama CrimeStoppers Executive Director Tony Garrett of $10,000, half from CrimeStoppers and a match from Montgomery County’s District 3 Commissioner, Ronda Walker.
Walker said she donates annually to CrimeStoppers and added, “Our city is being terrorized by gangs and violence. Anything I can do to get some of these criminals off the street, I will do. In every case of violence, somebody knows something. I hope these funds are an incentive for someone to do the right thing and call Crimestoppers. We have too many unsolved crimes and too many criminals on the street.
“The attack on our community is not the police force’s responsibility to bear alone,” Reed said. “Everyone in this room and every corner of this community has a responsibility as well.”
