The Scarlet Knights did not release a two-deep, but here's how it would have looked.
Rutgers did not release an official two-deep for the Howard game, but four projected starters did not play and several more who would have been considered rotational players also did not appear.
Leading up to kickoff, coach Greg Schiano acknowledged his team was “a little beat up,” adding several young faces would be out there. Then, Rutgers submitted its longestto date. There were 10 players with “out” designations and 12 more with “questionable” tabs. Seven of the 12 questionable players took the field.
So with that in mind, here’s NJ Advance Media’s best assessment of Rutgers’ depth chart through one game.: No surprises here. Sheppard was the back-up quarterback throughout the preseason. A.J. Surace, a true freshman, was set to compete with Sheppard for the backup role but was limited in camp with an injury.without pads in warmups but did not suit up against Howard. Surace was designated as “out” on the availability report.
