Cygnet's founding artistic director has taken over the lead role after the retirement Tom Stephenson, who played the part for nine years
Known for his longtime role as Scrooge at Cygnet Theatre, the award-winning actor appeared in more than 75 local productionsMurray and Scrooge go way back. It was the first role Murray ever played onstage — in his mid-teens at Twin Oaks Middle School in Poway — and he has starred in and directed the story many times in the years since. Murray is the founding artistic director of Cygnet, and he directed and wrote the adaptation and lyrics for this “Carol.
Cygnet’s long-running “Carol” production is a well-oiled crowd-pleaser, featuring original music by Billy Thompson, as well as a Christmas carol sing-along and comic bits. Murray’s adaptation makes use of simple theatrical props and sound effects to create the imaginary world of 1840s London before the audience’s eyes.

NJ Hires Firms to Review Governor's Handling of COVID-19New Jersey Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy said Monday his administration has launched a promised review of its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
