The dates for the 2022/23 Soweto Derby fixtures between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have been confirmed by the Premier Soccer League.
The first round derby between the rivals will be played on October 29, with the Buccaneers as hosts at FNB Stadium. It will be a first derby as head coaches for both coaches, Jose Riveiro and Arthur Zwane, who were appointed by the Soweto sides not so long ago. This will be a big opportunity to get a win and the backing of the supporters, as a win is often seen as a make or break for the men who sit in the hotseat.
The second round derby is expected to be played on February 25, 2023, at the same venue, with Amakhosi as hosts. By then, both sets of supporters will be hoping that their clubs are still in the running to win the Premiership title, which will make for an even more interesting Soweto derby. Pirates are scheduled to kickoff their season against rivals Swallows FC on Saturday, August 6, and Chiefs will travel to KZN to take on Royal AM on the same day.
