Daryl Bailey says he has been sworn in as a supernumerary district attorney as he leaves to take a job in the private sector.

. As he left the role he’d held for the last decade, Bailey posted online that he has been sworn in as a supernumerary district attorney as he leaves to take a job in the private sector.

According to Justia, a supernumerary district attorney has all the duties, power and authority of a district attorney, and may be called on by the governor, chief justice or attorney general for investigations or circuit court matters. “The best part is I will remain a DA but now will be able to help victims across our state when called upon,” he said of the supernumerary role.“Being DA was my life long dream. I have loved every second of my job over the last three decades. I have struggled over the last four months when I was presented with a new opportunity in the private sector. Leaving this office was not something I ever thought I would do this soon.

It is now up to Gov. Kay Ivey to appoint Bailey’s replacement. He has endorsed Chief Deputy District Attorney Azzie Oliver as his successor, saying “she is law and order but has the same love for our children and our community that I do.”More than 300 products part of massive meat recall sold at Walmart, Target, Trader Joe’s, more
