The Mets and the Braves will not play the rest of this week after all.
Wednesday’s and Thursday’s ballgames at Truist Park in Atlanta have been postponed with heavy rains already in the arena and more expected to come with Hurricane Helene approaching, the Braves announced.
The games will now be part of a straight doubleheader on Monday that will start at 1:10 p.m. in Atlanta. If, however, the Diamondbacks are eliminated from postseason contention by Monday and the Mets and Braves have not settled National League wild-card seeding, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred will decide if Monday’s doubleheader will be played for seeing purposes, The Post’s Joel Sherman reported.
Manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters that ace Sean Manaea has a “good chance” of starting the first game against the Brewers, who have already locked up the NL Central division title.Braves lefty Chris Sale — one of the NL Cy Young frontrunners — was expected to pitch Wednesday before the postponment.
