‘Rest in peace’: Aussie stars heartbroken as legendary coach dies
The Australian athletics community is in mourning after the death of legendary jumps coach Gary Bourne at the age of 68.
Two time Commonwealth Games gold medallist and World Championships bronze medallist pole vaulter Kurtis Marschall wrote: “Contributed hugely to my progression! Will be hugely missed Gaz.” 2010 Commonwealth gold medallist discus thrower Benn Harradine added: “So much impact and so humble. Always stable and always a handshake away from a good laugh. So proud to say that he has impacted so many people in a magnitude of ways including me and my Dad. RIP Gas, the Bourne Supremacy lives on!”Gary Bourne will be missed.Athletics Australia president Jane Flemming shared her condolences on behalf of the entire athletics community.
