A re-entry resource fair took place Thursday with Summit County Executive IIene Shapiro as a sponsor.
BARBERTON, Ohio - This includes employment readiness and placement, addiction recovery services, veteran services, vocational services and housing services.“I’ve been sober now since July 7,” said Jeff Tressel, who was volunteering at the event. He got a second chance when he was released. Tressel connected with Here For You Enterprise, an addiction resource center. The program was one of many resources at the fair.
“According to the 2021 statistics, Summit County ranked #4 with the most returning citizens from our Ohio prison,” said Lisa Dolan, the county’s Reentry Specialist. “When they come home, there are a lot of barriers that they face,” said Dolan. “They can get here for the event and connect with 50 plus resources at one place.”“We are just trying to make our community safer one person at time,” said Tressel.“Keep up the fight. If you don’t feel like anybody is here for you that care about your life, there are. Just reach out. Don’t give up. Suicide is real, don’t do it,” said Tressel.
