Officials said they are forecasting the Ogden River to reach a near-flood stage, with the highest risk having been from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday night. "That's why I came up. I marked the water when I got up here," said Lynn Berry, a resident. "I've been watching it, and it's come up at least three inches since I've been up here for the last four hours."Berry explained the precautions he and his family are taking this year after high waters threatened their homes in Weber County along the South Fork Ogden River during the spring runoff in 2023.
"You can see under my bridge; last year, we had the center beam that water would’ve been hitting right now, but you can see it’s missing it now. We cut the center beam out," Berry said. This time around, Berry is not showing any signs of worry due to the preparations and the lower levels of snowpack for the 2023–2024 winter season.The Weber County Sheriff's Office wants to remind residents to stay alert near fast-moving waters and to keep pets and children away.
