Residents in south-east Queensland have been battening down the hatches as widespread severe thunderstorms are forecast for the region on Tuesday afternoon. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning on Tuesday afternoon for damaging winds and large hailstones in Southeast Queensland for people in parts of Ipswich, Logan, Scenic Rim and Brisbane City Council Areas.
” Damaging wind gusts above 90 km/h and possible large hail greater than 2 cm in diameter are the “real watch points for today” according to Clapp. Places like Kingaroy and Gympie are still areas that could still see storm activity, with less severe storms still possible further north into the southern parts of capricornia. Clapp said that residents around the Gold Coast and Brisbane may still be in the firing line for the severe storms on Tuesday.
