Residents next to Lions Park called for more lighting after last week's shooting, where a juvenile was injured. "This is crazy, I mean, I've never in all the time I've lived here, never had anything like this before," said Brad Hansen, who has lived near the park for 17 years.

He said it's usually a nice, quiet park where people exercise, and kids play ball. However, on Thursday night, the Provo Police Department said shots rang out just before 11 p.m. "Somebody further down the street, I guess, had a window shot out. So, my opinion is that it was more on the north end of the park," Hansen said. Police said a report of a child in Orem with a non-life-threatening gunshot came in that same night. They said they don't have a suspect in custody, and that they consider the juvenile in the hospital to be a victim. Police reportedly canvassed the neighborhood multiple times and are still following leads. They asked that anyone with video of that night who might have caught something send it to them. Another neighbor said they wanted to see more security at the park in the form of lighting and a locked gate. They also said shootings have happened here in previous years."I was made aware of the shooting at Lion’s Park during our Monday morning briefing with the Provo Police Chief. At this time, I am not aware of any broader pattern of crime or ongoing issues specific to this area. "The safety of our residents is a top priority for me, for our law enforcement officers, and for the City Council. This incident is deeply upsetting, and I have full confidence in the Provo Police Department as they investigate and continue their work to keep Provo a very safe city. "I am not currently aware of any plans to increase lighting at Lion’s Park, but law enforcement has increased patrols in the area as a precaution. Provo also has an active neighborhood program, and I welcome hearing directly from residents about their concerns and ideas, including potential safety improvements." "I'm confused. I mean, there's never been anything like that around here before. I didn't hear it, I didn't see it, but it's kind of irritating," Hansen said.An employee with the Carbon County Sheriff's Office has been scheduled to appear in court after he was accused of playing cornhole without pants in his drivewayFor nearly a decade, the disappearance of 15-year-old Kiplyn Davis in Spanish Fork felt like a dead end.
