Sandra Wright says she felt 'deep remorse' for her behaviour at the Lanarkshire home.
A worker who left a care home resident bleeding 'profusely' after scratching their face with her nails has been struck off.
Wright later threw biscuits out of a window as the resident tried to take one before snarling 'the birds will get them'. The callous carer also branded another resident 'smelly' when she passed them in a corridor between June and August 2020.Wright was hauled before a panel of the Scottish Social Services Council who banned her from the sector. The hearing was told she felt 'deep remorse' for leaving the resident bleeding after she had lashed out.
In a written ruling, the SSSC said: "The most serious behaviour is scratching the resident's face as this caused direct physical harm to the resident and the nature of the injury suggests this was a deliberate act rather than an accidental scratch."Although this behaviour is unlikely to be repeated, this allegation is so serious that it must be addressed to uphold the reputation of the profession.
