Researchers developed a new strategy to achieve record efficiency (25.82%) and stability in perovskite/organic tandem solar cells.

Perovskite solar cells have emerged as a promising alternative to traditional silicon-based cells, offering advantages like lower production costs and greater flexibility. However, their efficiency has lagged behind silicon cells. Perovskite/organic tandem, combining perovskite and organic cells, hold the potential for high efficiency but face a challenge called phase segregation that hinders performance.

While the potential for high PCE exists, these tandem cells suffer from phase segregation. Different elements within the wide-bandgap perovskite layer tend to separate during operation, reducing device efficiency and lifespan.Researchers from Soochow University’s Suzhou Key Laboratory of Novel Semiconductor-optoelectronic Materials and Devices have proposed a strategy to address this challenge.
