A TikTok video showing a cat rescued from Dubai struggling to adjust to the cold weather in the UK has gone viral. The cat's owner, @ayshaexplores, shared that her adopted furry friend is constantly cold despite her efforts to keep the house warm.

An owner who rescued her cat from Dubai was surprised to find that the weather played a part in how the pet adjusted to life in the United Kingdom. TikTok user @ayshaexplores adopted a cat who lived on the streets of Dubai through a rescue group that organized the transfer to her home in the U.K. Any transition to a pet's forever home can take time. It's a new environment, with unfamiliar smells and routine. However, Aysha didn't expect her cat to be taken aback by the cold weather.

In yesterday's TikTok video, which amassed over 35,800 views, 3,355 likes and 35 comments, Aysha explained that her rescue cat is 'always freezing.' It doesn't matter how warm she keeps the house or that she has her own hot water bottle, her cat is still cold. The caption reads: 'She's just like me.' One can't blame the cat for the transformation. As a hot desert climate, Dubai is relatively warm all year. The temperature ranges from about 65 degrees in the winter to about 102 in the summer. The cat traded in the sunshine for a forever home, but now she's learning to live in the northern, oceanic climate where temperatures can drop to about 14 degrees. She'll experience summer warmth again with average temperatures in the 80s. The transition to her new, cold home also could be difficult due to a cat's ancestry. An article from Great Pet Care reported that cats are descendants of desert-dwelling felines accustomed to warm and dry climates. This means cats aren't built to handle the cold weather. They can feel the cold quickly and need protection. Heartbroken and concerned about the cat, viewers offered ideas to help her feel warm. One person suggested Aysha buy a heated mat and cat bed igloo. It would provide her cat with a warm and safe space. Aysha responded she'd already tried that, but her cat 'always chews on the heated mat wires.' Instead, she placed a few radiator beds and hammocks around the house which her cat loves. Other than her cat feeling cold, people could tell how she's living her best life with Aysha. 'Bless her she is so well looked after,' said one viewer. Thinking positively, someone wrote: 'She will get use to. She's so happy to have a house and you.' Newsweek reached out to @ayshaexplores via TikTok for additional comment.
