Reps. James Comer and Jim Jordan said, according to a letter they wrote to Garland, that the material the Department of Justice had provided to them so far in response to a subpoena was “insufficient” and “inadequate.”“If you fail to do so, then Committees will consider taking further action, such as the invocation of contempt of Congress proceedings,” the Republicans wrote.
Comer and Jordan, the chairmen of the House Oversight and Judiciary committees, respectively, initially asked for several items related to Hur’s investigation of Biden’s handling of classified documents. Those materials included a transcript of an interview Hur conducted with Biden last October, as well as audio recordings of the interview and audio recordings of conversations between Biden and the ghostwriter of his memoir.
