GOP politicians testify that ex-House Speaker Larry Householder's actions on the nuclear plant bailout and bare-knuckle campaigns crossed a line.
Each talked to the FBI about their concerns. First was former state Rep. Dave Greenspan, R-Westlake, who called the FBI to report pressure he felt from Householder and lobbyist Neil Clark to vote for House Bill 6.
Former Rep. Kyle Koehler, R-Springfield, also faced pressure to vote for the nuclear bailout. Mailers delivered to his constituents asked them to tell Koehler to have the"courage" to back House Bill 6. Ultimately, Koehler voted against the bill, too. Lastly, Republican Nick Owens, a 2020 candidate for a House district in Clermont and Brown counties, testified that Householder's candidate in that primary, Allen Freeman, received substantial financial support in the form of positive mailers and attack advertisements.
Householder and ex-Ohio Republican Party Chairman Matt Borges are accused of participating in a pay-to-play scheme to help Householder win control of the Ohio House, pass a $1.3 billion bailout for two nuclear plants and defend that law against a referendum effort to block it.
