“Biden’s failed border agenda has caused too much death and destruction across my district,” Gonzales said in a statement Thursday afternoon. “Congress needs to put its foot down and stop subsidizing that. There’s nothing in this package that closes asylum loopholes, ends catch and release, or stops the abuse of paroling authority by the Biden administration. You can count me out on this one.”
Gonzales faces a runoff election on May 28 after failing to clinch the majority of votes during the Republican primary election earlier this month.in second place to Gonzales by more than 20 percentage points.
