Senator John Kennedy said that Susan Rice was encouraging Democrats to retaliate against businesses who have submitted to President Donald Trump.

by RAY LEWIS | The National News DeskSenator John Kennedy said that Susan Rice was encouraging Democrats to retaliate against companies after regaining power. Senator John Kennedy, the Louisiana Republican, accused a former White House official earlier this month of supporting “lawfare” against companies that submit to President Donald Trump.

He said during a March 4 speech in the chamber that Susan Rice, who served former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, was encouraging Democrats during a podcast to retaliate against businesses after regaining power. Rice said last month in an interview with the channel CAFE that Democrats will hold the companies accountable if they are successful in upcoming elections. “What Ms. Rice seems to be saying is that it’s okay in America today to use the law to prosecute and harass your political enemies,” Kennedy said. “I find that astounding coming from a person of her statute.” The National News Desk has been unable to reach Rice to request comment. She said during her interview that there would be an “accountability agenda” if Democrats win at least the House in the November midterm elections. “Companies already are starting to hear they better preserve their documents. They better be ready for subpoenas,” Rice said. “If they’ve done something wrong, they’ll be held accountable.” Some prominent companies who previously had issues with Trump have reached deals with him during his second term. Paramount, which owns CBS, agreed to a $16 million settlement with the president last year over a “60 Minutes” interview that he called biased toward his ex-election opponent, former Vice President Kamala Harris.Kennedy, suggesting Rice is immature, called her comments “irresponsible.” “What Ms. Rice is talking about is payback,” he said. “What Ms. Rice seems to be saying is two wrongs don’t make it right, but they do make it even.” The senator added that he wouldn’t support retaliation by Trump either, although he expressed uncertainty over whether the president has tried to punish political opponents. The administration has indeed tried to charge or investigate many of Trump’s adversaries, including former FBI Director James Comey, New York Attorney General Letitia James, Federal Reserve Chair“I know Chairman Powell very well.
