Former Trump strategist Steve Bannon is expected to face a new criminal indictment and surrender to New York prosecutors on Thursday, the Washington Post first reported
late Tuesday to several journalists, calling the expected indictment "phony charges" and "nothing more than a partisan political weaponization of the criminal justice system."of contempt of Congress for failing to comply with a subpoena issued by the Jan. 6 select committee investigating the U.S. Capitol riot.
Representatives for Bannon and the Manhattan district attorney's office did not immediately respond to Axios' requests for comment.
