The number of reported deaths due to Super Typhoon Egay climbed to 26 on Tuesday, data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council showed.

Of this count, the agency said only two have so far been confirmed — one in Calabarzon and one in Western Visayas. The Cordillera Administrative Region logged the highest number of fatalities at 12, all of which are still being validated. Ilocos Region came next with eight deaths which are still under confirmation. Calabarzon logged a total of four, while Western Visayas counted two.Meanwhile, the agency is checking reports that 13 people nationwide are missing in the aftermath of the disaster.

Egay has affected over 675,000 families or more than 2.4 million people across the country, the council said. Damage to infrastructure has reached over ₱3.5 billion, while estimated damage to agriculture is nearing ₱2 billion.
