The tapes are said to contain material recorded between 1989 and 1991.
56-year-old Gregg Musgrove, a former California Highway Patrol trooper, was contacted by an associate regarding a storage unit they had recently purchased in Van Nuys, California, which previously belonged to music producer and singer Bryan Loren, whose current whereabouts are unknown, according to Musgrove.
Musgrove's journey to the trove of tapes took him to the storage unit, which is located deep in the San Fernando Valley, per. He told the outlet that 12 unreleased tracks were found on the tapes, and were described as material Jackson worked on prior to the release of his"I've gone to all the fan sites.
"I'm listening to this stuff, and I would get goosebumps because nobody's ever heard this stuff before. To hear Michael Jackson actually talk and kind of joke back and forth, it was really, really cool," Musgrove told the outlet.
