Seattle’s top draft selection from 2021 is no longer on the team.
Wide receiver Dee Eskridge’s time with the Seattle Seahawks has come to an end. The 2021 second-round pick has been waived, according to Jordan Schultz. Eskridge made a late push to make the Seahawks roster with a 79-yard punt return touchdown against the Cleveland Browns, after which he was hugely celebrated by his teammates. Having restructured his contract entering this offseason, the former Western Michigan star had an uphill battle to stay on the team.
It’s an end to a disappointing and often times unfortunate Seahawks career for the 27-year-old. Several injuries affected his availability, his on-field productivity was scarce even when he was healthy enough to play, and he was suspended for six games last season after a misdemeanor domestic assault arrest.
