Duarte limped off the court after an awkward landing under the basket against the Heat.
INDIANAPOLIS -- Pacers guard Chris Duarte suffered a Grade 2 ankle sprain and is likely out four to six weeks, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Duarte needed help from teammates getting off the court and to the locker room Friday against Miami after landing on Kyle Lowry's foot under the basket. After the game, coach Rick Carlisle said he didn't know the severity of the injury but that Duarte was likely to miss the Pacers' Monday game against the Pelicans.
Without Duarte, the Pacers used more lineups with multiple point guards: combinations of Tyrese Haliburton, T.J. McConnell and Andrew Nembhard, sometimes all at once. Duarte has struggled with his shot in his second season out of Oregon, averaging 8.9 points per game while shooting 39% from the field and 34% from beyond the arc, all lower than his numbers last season. He began the season as a starter before losing his job to Aaron Nesmith. Duarte reentered the starting lineup in Brooklyn with Nesmith out with a foot injury.
