Maine State Police says it is responding to an active shooter situation in Lewiston.
LEWSITON, Maine -- At least 22 people are dead in mass shootings in at least two locations in Lewiston, according to CNN.Police are asking residents to stay home with their doors locked.The Lewiston Police Department says the two locations are Schemengees Bar and Grille and Sparetime Recreation.The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office and the Lewiston Police Department have posted pictures of the suspect and a vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting situation.
The Bangor Daily News is reporting that a Maine State Police spokesperson identified a shooter as 39-year-old Robert Card.“I am aware of and have been briefed on the active shooter situation in Lewiston. I urge all people in the area to follow the direction of State and local enforcement. I will to continue to monitor the situation and remain in close contact with public safety officials.”Senator Susan Collins shared pictures of the suspect on her Facebook page.
Lewiston Superintendent Jake Langlais issued a statement Wednesday night saying that schools will be closed Thursday.
