Johnson’s bill, known as the Panama Canal Repurchase Act of 2025, would allow the president to enter into negotiations for reacquisition of the canal, according to a copy obtained by TNND. It would also ask the president to submit a report to Congress on the progress of negotiations and any “potential challenges” which arise within 180 days of enactment of the legislation.
