This home in Northwest San Antonio was the 30,000th home to be weatherized through CPS Energy’s Casa Verde program.U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro announced Wednesday his office has secured $10.6 million through the fiscal year 2024 federal appropriations process to support 13 community projects in San Antonio, $1 million of which will go toward CPS Energy’s Casa Verde weatherization program.
The Casa Verde Program helps low-income households around San Antonio get energy-saving updates to their home. The $1 million grant is part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant and will provide home repairs for 500 homes, making them eligible for weatherization.
The program is a “great example of how smart infrastructure investments can protect the environment and uplift San Antonio families,” Castro said.
