.RepGregSteube recovering from 'not life-threatening' injuries after falling from ladder
The Florida Republican suffered"several serious injuries" from the 25-foot fall but is recovering and"in good spirits," according to the congressman's office. He was trimming tree branches at his home in Sarasota, Florida, when he fell. The Congressman spent the night in the ICU where several serious injuries are still under assessment but not life threatening at this time. He is making progress and in good spirits.
Steube was elected to his third term in November and is a veteran of the Iraq War. His fellow lawmakers continued to wish him well after Thursday's update, including Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy . "I spoke with [Greg Steube] and his wife, Jen, this morning. He is in good spirits, and our entire conference prays for a swift recovery," McCarthy said in a statement."I informed him he will serve on the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, and he is eager to get back to work!"
"Greg Steube is as tough as they come. Ginger and I are praying for your full and speedy recovery, my friend," Rep. Matt Gaetz responded on Twitter."Glad to hear injuries aren’t life threatening — praying they stay that way and you will have smooth and speedy recovery," Rep. Daniel Webster said. Steube is also a star player on the Republican baseball team, knocking the ball out of the park in a rare 2021 home run.
