California Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell is in the lead for the state’s Democratic gubernatorial primary.

According to a poll from Emerson College Polling/Inside California Politics, Swalwell’s support has increased since last year.In California, the top two candidates move on from the primary no matter their party affiliation. GOP Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco and billionaire Tom Steyer both have 11% support and former Democratic Rep. Katie Porter has 8% support.is term limited and cannot run again for re-election and there is speculation he will run for president in 2028., including former Trump strategist Steve Bannon and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
