Illinois RepChuyGarcia blames staffer for obscene tweet attacking critic
Garcia deleted two tweets from Friday relating to the incident. The first tweet was not the offending one allegedly written by the staffer, but rather the tweet that sparked the back and forth, which contained his opinion about an assault-style weapons ban.
"Never even heard of this guy and I won't comply even if his silly law passes," one user replied in a quote tweet."You are borderline retarded ya f***ing dips***," Garcia's Twitter account responded in the late hours of Friday night.Fabiola Rodriguez-Ciampoli, a spokeswoman for Garcia, assured the congressman's followers that the tweet was"unauthorized."
"Last night a member of Congressman Garcia's staff posted an unauthorized tweet from the Congressman's account using profanities and offensive language to individuals living with disabilities. The language used was absolutely inappropriate and inconsistent with Congressman Garcia's history," the statement read."The individual responsible will be held accountable and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.
