BREAKING: Renowned Japanese electronic musician and composer Ryuichi Sakamoto dies aged 71.
Japanese composer and producer Ryuichi Sakamoto, who gained global recognition for his work in electronic music, has died aged 71.In a statement shared on his website, it outlined that following Sakamoto’s
diagnosis in June 2020, he continued to ‘create works in his home studio whenever his health would allow’ during treatment.‘We would like to express out deepest gratitude to his fans and all those who have supported his activities, as well as medical professionals in Japan and the United States who did everything in their power to cure him.’
In accordance with the music pioneer’s wishes, his funeral service ‘was held among his close family members’. The announcement also included one of his favourite quotes: ‘Ars longa, vita brevis,’ which translates to mean: ‘Art is long, life is short.’
